This bedding are small round quite hard granules. They don't smell and indeed take up liquid at least as well as all other bedding I have tested. For guinea pigs I'd only recommend this as a bottom layer, though. They are hard, of course, and they do move around more than other types. Sharp corners taken by your resident racing pig may displace most of the bedding. However, I imagine that this is good for animals who like to dig and play with their bedding rather than run and sleep on it.
